Physical Training
Kilimanjaro is a hike, not a technical climb, but it requires endurance.
2 Months Before
Start cardio exercises (running, swimming, cycling) 3 times a week.
1 Month Before
Do long hikes on weekends wearing your new hiking boots to break them in.
Leg Strength
Focus on squats and lunges. Climbing stairs is the best simulation.
Visa & Medical
Visa: Available on arrival ($50 for most, $100 for USA) or E-Visa online.
Yellow Fever: Certificate required if traveling from a risk country (check your transit).
Malaria: Moshi is in a malaria zone, but the mountain is not. Consult your doctor.
Altitude Sickness: Many climbers use Diamox. Please consult your doctor for a prescription.
Insurance: Travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking (up to 6,000m) is mandatory.
